AOC comes to East Lancs Wing for his last official Sqn visit

319 (City of Salford) cadets hosted Air Commodore Ian Stewart BSc FRAes RAF on his last visit to an Air Cadet Squadron before handing over to the new Commandant of the Air Cadets.

After a brief tour of the Squadron and introductions, the cadets took the opportunity to discuss the activities they have undertaken on the unit, their own views on the benefits of being a cadet, as well as posing some difficult questions to him about his life in the RAF, his new role with NATO and time as a cadet himself.

The Air Commodore used his visit to present certificates to the cadets from recent first aid courses, a bronze Duke of Edinburgh award and water activity qualifications. Also a special presentation of a certificate of Meritorious Service was made to Warrant Officer Steve Casey who has been a dedicated member of staff to the Air Cadet Organisation for 28 years. WO (ATC) Casey said, "Although we don't do this for certificates or awards, sometimes it is nice to take something home and it was especially touching that it was presented in person by the AOC".

All in all the night was a big success, and 319 Squadron appreciated the Air Commodore taking time out of his busy last week to visit the unit.
