Cadets from around the Region gained their sea legs last week at the East Lancs Wing-organised Water Activity Course at TS Paletine.
20 Cadets took to the water of Hollingworth Lake with instructors from East Lancashire wing and the Sea Cadets Corps to learn about sailing, power boating and canoeing. The course, which is 5 day course, is a huge hit and often draws cadets from around the country.
Successful participants can come away with Royal Yachting Association and British Canoe Union certificates. Returning cadets can work at upgrading their qualifications to eventually become instructors.
One member of staff said, "On some days the water may be cold, but the cadets quickly forget about that after climbing in and out of boats for a few hours. At the end of the day, you can tell how much effort they have put in by how quiet it is in the wardroom".
