The relatively new centre has been devised by the Air Cadet Organisation to give the cadets a fun, interactive experience in learning. The various equipment on offer includes flight simulation, air traffic control simulation and radio communications.
RAF Woodvale is literally 10 minutes from the Training Camp and provides Air Experience Flying for the Centre. Having had the opportunity to fly the Grob Tutor (RAF Trainer) on the simulator, some cadets are then actually given the opportunity to fly in the aircraft for real over the weekend.
The centre also offers the opportunity to conduct training in Leadership, First Aid, Shooting and Fieldcraft.
Cadet Eaton from Hyde Squadron said “It was a really good weekend. The flight sim was great and it was good to go shooting. Oh, and the food was really good too!”
The RAC offers a chance for the cadets to mix with other units from the surrounding areas. They are able to make new friends and take away experiences most young people would not think possible.
